BLURRED INNOCENCE
Monet’s “Water Lilies” Series
My grandmother loves Monet paintings. You can find them all through her house. Monet’s Water Lilies series reminds me of the innocence of youth and being a child surrounded by Monet’s.
This dress is meant to mimic the blurry vision of being inside of Monet’s artwork, twirling around like a young girl.
Concept Development
Merry-go-rounds, lampshade architecture, innocence, femininity, twirling and spinning, girlhood.
Originally inspired by bespoke lampshades, I further developed this concept. In contrast with Confinement, Blurred Innocence shows the brighter side of girlhood.
Sketches
The first sketch shows the dress as it was prior to the removal of the lampshade design. The second sketch is my finalized design.
Paint sampling and work from my sketchbook during ideation.
